Healthy Banana Mango Smoothie

Healthy Banana Mango Smoothie

This Healthy Banana Mango Smoothie is a thick, frosty, fruity smoothie with a protein boost from Greek yogurt.  I often add ground flaxseed for additional health benefits.

Ever since I made my Diet Mixed Berry Smoothie recipe, I have been on a real smoothie kick.  While I have enjoyed coming up with several different recipes, I think this Healthy Banana Mango Smoothie recipe is my favorite.  When made with a perfectly frozen banana and chilled mango, this smoothie whips up to the consistency of soft serve ice cream.

While you can use fresh mango, I often use frozen mango chunks from Trader Joe’s.  The night before, I portion out what I want to use the next morning and stick it in the refrigerator to thaw overnight.  It typically does not thaw completely, which contributes to the frosty consistency.  Because the fruits are so naturally sweet, no additional sweetener is needed.  I often add ground flaxseed for some healthy fats (omega 3s!), but you could add chia seeds, or simply omit it all together.

With back-to-school upon us, mornings are busier than ever.  An easy recipe that is also healthy can be a great way to kick start your day.  Made with just a few healthy ingredients, this vitamin-filled, protein-packed Healthy Banana Smoothie recipe is perfect!

Healthy Banana Mango Smoothie - so thick, you can eat it with a spoon like ice cream. Super easy too!

It’s that time again…the Eating with the Alphabet Challenge hosted by Brenda from Meal Planning Magic!  This month we were to showcase a recipe using a fruit, vegetable or grain that begin with the letters M, N or O.  I had way too many ideas for this one.  Since I absolutely love mangoes in this smoothie, it was an easy decision.  If you’re a blogger, why not join us!  It’s fun to come up with new, healthy recipes as well as see what other bloggers decide to make.   Brenda has more information and sign up details here

  1. I just love smoothies too, especially home-made with your favorite ingredient combination. Just went to a smoothie shop this week and a medium-sized tropical mango smoothie was a whopping $7.50! I need to put a blender in my office to make your smoothies!

    Thanks so much,
    Roz
