Grandma's Brownies
Author:
Yields: 36 bars

Ingredients
Brownies:
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup butter, softened
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 can (1½ cups) chocolate syrup
  • 1 cup flour
Frosting
  • 1½ cups granulated sugar
  • 5 tablespoons butter, cut into pieces
  • 6 tablespoons milk
  • ¾ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350F degrees. Spray a 13x9-inch baking pan with baking spray and set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, cream sugar and butter until combined.
  3. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well between each addition.
  4. Stir in syrup and flour, gently folding until combined. Pour batter into prepared baking pan.
  5. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes. Be careful not to over bake - a toothpick inserted in the center should come out with moist crumbs. Remove to a wire rack to cool completely before frosting.
  6. FROSTING: In a small sauce pan, bring sugar, butter and milk to a boil, stirring occasionally. Cook for 3 to 5 minutes. Remove from heat and add chocolate chips. Stir until chips are melted and frosting is thick enough to spread.
