Red Wine Chocolate Cake
Yields: 1 bundt cake (24 servings)

Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1¼ teaspoons baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1¾ cups granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1¼ cups dry red wine, such as Gallo Family Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350F degrees. Spray a bundt pan with baking spray and set aside.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, using a hand mixer, cream butter and sugar until combined and fluffy, about 5 minutes. Add eggs one at a time, beating after each addition. Add vanilla, and beat for 2 more minutes. Working in two batches, alternately add flour mixture and wine, folding by hand until just combined.
  4. Pour batter into prepared baking pan. Bake for 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool in pan for 10 minutes and then remove from pan to a wire rack to cool completely. Just before serving, dust with powdered sugar.
