We definitely have our favorite breakfast foods, but from time to time it is fun to try something new and different.  We recently tried new Nature Valley™ Protein Granola, which is a granola inspired by Nature Valley’s™ popular granola bars. We had the Oats ‘n Honey flavor, which tasted just like my childhood favorite granola bar.  While we enjoyed a bowl of granola for a delicious, nutritious breakfast, we found that Nature Valley™ Protein Granola can be used throughout the day for so much more!

Sprinkled on top of baked goods!  My kids love this recipe for Banana Buttermilk Muffins.  I typically top the muffins with mini chocolate chips, and they are devoured within minutes.  The last time I made them, I ran out of chocolate chips.  So I decided to reach for the bag of Nature Valley™ Protein Granola to use as a topping. It was a hit!  I sprinkled some granola over the batter before baking, and the granola added a crunch and sweetness that reminded me of a banana nut muffin, only without the nuts.

Sprinkled over Greek yogurt, or as a parfait! When Mike travels, one of his go-to on-the-go breakfasts is Greek yogurt with granola. He raves about it so much, I set out to re-create this breakfast treat for him at home.  I put together a half cup of nonfat Greek yogurt, a handful of fresh blueberries (plus a strawberry to make it pretty 🙂 ) and topped it with Nature Valley™ Protein Granola. He drizzled a touch of honey over the top. He loved it!  He said he would happily eat it every single day. Easy enough!

As a salad topping! For a little added crunch and sweetness, we sprinkled a little Nature Valley™ Protein Granola over a simple side salad.  What a great salad topping!  It adds a crunch, like croutons or nuts, and a little sweetness which balanced well with the red onions in our salad.  We didn’t even use dressing!
